Russia has long been a source of fascination and frustration for the outside world. It is big, relentless and thoroughly modern. Yet it can also be remarkably intimate, patient and stubbornly traditional. The Russia of the 21st century is very different from the Russia of history books. Russia is no longer the Soviet Union and it has long since ceased to be Europe’s parochial cousin from the East.
Russia today is dynamic, proud, and demands to be understood by the West. The Empire’s New Clothes showcases the new Russia, a land driven by forceful memories of the past, passionate people and an unmistakable vision for the future.
The Empire clearly has new clothes and it is ready for it’s new place on the world stage whether we’re ready or not.
Shot in various locations in the Russian Federation.
